Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) is a term for a practice which is generally applied to pre-commercial stands of timber and involves removing diseased, crooked or unwanted species, pruning, cutting grapevines, etc. By focusing the site’s growth potential on the best individual trees, your goals will be realized more quickly.

Here is a young sugar maple stand that has benefited from TSI. The blue ribbon trees were marked to keep and the surrounding low quality trees were removed. Some of the maples were also pruned.

Reynwood Forest Management can provide or coordinate:

  • Pre-commercial thinning
  • Elimination of harmful vines
  • Pruning high value species to 17'
  • Control of invasive plant species
  • Tax-deductible credit for firewood donated to Covenant Village Retreat
